I almost forgot to record today! (laughs) I was about to brush my teeth and then quickly checked the time, afraid I'd miss the deadline. (laughs) I don't know why I do it, this heatmap, this streak system, but it's another thing that helps keep me disciplined. It's like having something I need to maintain. (laughs) It works, I guess. It's been a while now, since the first entry on April 21st. So, if you don't count the streak only showing consecutive days, it's been several months, about four months. (sighs) So many stories. Every day is a bit of a mess, but at least there's one entry a day.
Today, I have to say, my legs are incredibly sore. Yesterday's bodyweight squats weren't anything special, just normal squats, but I really focused on them. I did them very slowly, making sure the movement came from the muscles, not bouncing off tendons. I tried to tense my thighs and push up. It's hard to explain, but anyone who works out would understand how to really engage the muscles. Oh, they hurt so much! I did over a hundred reps and now I have crazy DOMS. (sighs) But that's just my thighs and quads; my hamstrings didn't get much of a workout. I'll have to work on those with machines later.
So, I didn't go to the gym this morning, partly because I was too lazy to back out the car. While I was reviewing Japanese verbs, my brother invited me to run errands. We took materials to the pier to send to Koh Jum, for renovations at our bungalow there. There's a section that needs improvement.
We dropped off the materials around noon. On the way back, we stopped to check on a rental house. My brother mentioned the tenant hadn't paid rent or electricity, and we hadn't been able to contact them. This morning, we saw they'd left the Line group. So, we had a feeling. (laughs) We went to check, and as expected, (laughs) the house was empty. No one was there, and all their belongings were gone. It's good that nothing was stolen or trashed much. They even left the keys inside, and some of their trash, but it wasn't too bad.
I told my brother and mom about it. I understand the tenant's situation; my brother felt sorry for them. This tenant had a story about being scammed by another landlord, paying a deposit and booking fee for a house that didn't exist, losing several thousand baht. So, we were kind and let them pay the security deposit in installments over three months. Normally, a rental security deposit, like for condos in Bangkok, is two months' rent upfront, not including the first month's rent. That's the standard. Well, they stayed one month. This is the second month. (laughs) They skipped the second month's rent, and they hadn't even finished paying the security deposit. We'll have to pay the electricity ourselves. (laughs) It's a lesson learned.
I've said it before: we need to screen people better. Our security deposit system is limited; it can't do much. If you get a case like this, pursuing legal action is complicated. The security deposit and advance rent are supposed to be our guarantee. Even if they leave in the last month, we keep the deposit for that month. But if they haven't even finished paying the deposit, then we're just losing money. It's just an experience, I guess. I'll clean the house and post it for new tenants. It shouldn't be hard to find someone, though, because the demand is very high. We've observed the market, and there's a lot of demand for rental houses. (sighs) I'll probably install CCTV cameras there, too. (laughs) I'm planning to put WiFi in the rental house, and also cameras outside for the tenants' safety, since there have been rumors of thieves in that area. So, we'll have WiFi and cameras, and maybe offer the tenants the option to rent the WiFi.
That was my morning and afternoon. I got home around 1 or 2 PM. I hadn't even eaten yet. My first meal was around 2 or 3 PM, and it was just a snack, not a proper meal. (laughs) I ate some steamed curry fish I bought from the market yesterday. I didn't want the curry much because Mom had already cooked, but it was a stew that needed more time to braise the pork until it was tender and delicious. I can't remember the name, but it's really good.
In the evening, I decided to go to the gym. I initially thought I wouldn't, but I went for cardio, an hour on the incline treadmill. It was busy as usual for a Sunday, but it was good that the Taekwondo event from yesterday was over. So, there was still parking, easy to find a spot. On Sundays, the mall is crowded, but the gym is almost empty. There were some groups doing classes, but not many.
I came back, showered, and finally ate that stew. It was some kind of stew, I can't remember the name, but it was incredibly delicious. It was a pork stew with pickled cabbage, and Mom poured her seafood dipping sauce over it. I didn't even take a picture! It was so good. I already told Mom and requested another pot for tomorrow. (laughs) I want to eat it again; I'm still craving it.
Because I was out and about today, I hadn't cleared my Enki flashcards. I just finished reviewing from 9 PM until past 11 PM. Then I brushed my teeth and rushed to record this. (sighs) That's about it. How have things been lately? Just going with the flow, not feeling much, but thinking a lot. I talk to AI (laughs) I vent to AI sometimes, and ask all sorts of silly questions. That's it for now. I'll probably listen to music or a podcast and then sleep. See you tomorrow.
