(sighs) It's 11 PM and I just finished showering and drying my hair. Damn, I forgot to put on lotion. (laughs) I'll get up and do it later. Anyway, I'll pick up where I left off in the last recording.
I went to the gym this evening and walked on an incline for about 50 minutes. My legs are so sore, I'm really tired. I probably should have rested today. The gym was packed around 4 PM. (laughs) I always wonder what everyone does that they're all there so early. My legs are so fatigued; it even hurts to stand up after sitting. (sighs)
Around 6 PM, my parents suggested we go out for Isaan food. We waited at home for my brother. He'd just gotten his car back after a paint job, but then took it to another shop for some extra installation. We waited for him for about half an hour. (laughs) When we got to the shop, they told us some parts needed to be ordered, so he had to leave the car there. (sighs) We drove home, dropped off our car, and then went to find a somtum place.
We looked at so many restaurants because the places we used to like aren't good anymore. I'm so envious of the Isaan food in other provinces, like Trang or Phang Nga, where I've had amazing meals. Here in Krabi, the places we like are so inconsistent. My family really loves Isaan food; we could eat it all the time.
We looked on Google for reviews and decided to try a new place called Zaab Nua that we'd driven past many times. The name sounded cool. After dropping off one car at home, we all went in the other car. We arrived at 7 PM, thinking the restaurant closed at 9 PM. My dad just smiled when we walked in. (laughs) The whole place was empty. We figured maybe people had already eaten since it was 7 PM, but it was still surprising for a place that closed at 9. We sat down and ordered as usual.
The food started arriving. We ordered Pad See Ew first, just to snack on, and it was surprisingly good. We thought, “Hey, this place has potential!” But then the Isaan dishes started coming. (laughs) I don't even know what to say. It was... okay? Maybe? (laughs) For our family's taste, it wasn't great. (laughs) We ordered salmon sashimi, and the seafood dipping sauce was like plain water — no flavor at all. (laughs) (sighs) The worst was my favorite, tum khao pod khai kem (corn salad with salted egg). It was so strange, like they used the same sauce as tum Thai, but it just didn't work. Tum Thai should be simple and basic.
I couldn't even finish it. I think that's the first time I've ever ordered my favorite tum khao pod khai kem and not eaten it all. I usually clear the whole plate myself. (laughs) And it wasn't just me; everyone else who tasted the corn salad agreed it wasn't good. The other dishes were just okay, though the grilled pork neck was pretty good — it tasted more like actual pork neck than the grilled red pork you get at other places. (laughs) Well, now we know. (laughs) It's so hard to find good Isaan food here in Krabi.
After we got home, I realized we don't have enough parking. (laughs) (sighs) We'll have to figure out how to arrange the cars. I just watched some YouTube and then showered. (sighs) Chocolate Sky is still as delicious as ever. I ate two more today. It's so good. I've set a quota for myself: no more than two a day. (laughs) (sighs)
Oh, there's one more thing: my hair. I'm trying to grow it out, and it's reached that annoying length where it's poking my eyes. My hair is super straight and fine — I mean, it's ridiculously straight. (laughs) It's at that stage where it's hitting my eyebrows and eyes, and it's so irritating. (laughs) (laughs) I don't even know why I'm doing this. (laughs) I go to the gym almost every day, and I sweat, and my head gets so itchy, especially when I wear a hat. (sighs) Short hair was perfectly fine. Why did I suddenly want long hair? (laughs) I'll grow it out a bit more, and then maybe get some layers or something. For now, I'm just carrying a headband.
That's about it for today. Lately, I always end up talking for ten minutes.
